Self-Care: Crucial to Mindset and Productivity

Do you wake up dreading your day? Do you feel easily irritated or unmotivated to exercise? These are common signs that you are not taking time throughout your days for yourself. Practicing self-care is an important way to check in with yourself, nourish your body, and uplift your mood so you can tackle your days. These are four self-care practices that can help turn your mood around!

  1. Practice Skin Care. The spectrum that ranges from using various serums on your skin to simply washing and moisturizing your face. At the very least, wash your face with soap and warm water and put lotion on. This will wake you up and give you a fresh, accomplished feeling to start the day. Plus, cleaning your skin will help you look put-together, and when you look good, you feel good.

  2. Practice gratitude. Whether it’s writing it down in a journal or voluntarily saying it aloud, name three to five things each morning that you are thankful for. This will transition your mindset early in the morning toward a more positive and appreciative outlook.

  3. Eat a hearty breakfast. Eating a healthy breakfast that includes carbs, protein, and fats will give your body and brain a boost of energy to handle tasks, begin metabolizing, and get active. Leaving time in the morning to have a peaceful, nutritious breakfast is crucial to start your day on the right foot. Don’t skimp at breakfast, eat to fuel.

  4. Stretch or meditate. Taking ten minutes to stretch or meditate can help you check in with your thoughts and center yourself amidst an overwhelming day. This will allow you to keep any negative emotions controlled and it provides a recharge, whether it’s needed prior to a workout, or prior to diving into more work.
