FOUR SMALL CHANGES FOR YOUR SUMMER BODY

  1. Don’t Drink Your Calories. Liquid calories are dangerous because they are consumed quickly, offer little satiation and almost no nutritional value. When recalling their daily calorie intake, many fail to realize the hundreds of extra calories consumed in juices, sodas, etc. Instead, opt for water, natural tea, or other zero calorie drink options.

  2. Take The Stairs. If you are in a position where you take an elevator every day, instead opt to take the stairs to burn a few extra calories. If you are not in a position to choose between the stairs and an elevator, take a daily walk. Walks are a low impact way to burn calories and take time for yourself. You don’t have to run in order to lose weight! An attainable goal is to get 10,000 steps in a day.

  3. Substitute Sugar Free Options. Excess sugar in the body turns into fat through a process called lipogenesis. Many popular foods have high sugar contents that could facilitate this. Luckily, low sugar/sugar free options can have the same great taste. You can find sugar free or unsweetened options of condiments, creamers, milk, pudding, yogurt and more.

  4. Eat High Volume, Low Calorie Snacks. For those times when you just want a big bowl of something to snack on, choose foods that you can consume a lot of for a small number of calories. This satisfies that snacking urge without ruining your goals. Some foods to try are skinny pop, blueberries, cucumber, watermelon, Gerber baby puffs, flex chips, etc.
