7 Ways to Keep Up with a Healthy Lifestyle

By Maya Carducci

Sometimes, you may find yourself in a rut while trying to reach your fitness and health goals. This is natural, and you may need to make alterations in your routine to help maintain your motivation and drive toward what you want most. The good news is, healthy lifestyles aren’t meant to be rigid, restrictive, or monotonous. Here are easy and simple ways to keep up with a healthy lifestyle while still enjoying the journey towards your goals.

  1. Drink water or flavored water. To spice up your daily intake of water, try buying water flavoring or flavored sparkling water. This way you are still getting enough fluids throughout the day, and even crushing a soda craving or two in the meantime.

  2. Get enough sleep. Getting enough sleep is crucial. Whether you are working out at the gym, or not, enough sleep helps maintain a healthy circadian rhythm and gives you energy to recover and get after your goals.

  3. Find a workout split that works with your schedule. There is nothing worse than rushing in the gym or not having enough time afterwards to reset before your work or school schedule. It is better to find an adequate amount of time in your schedule to hit the gym. To maintain your progress, you only need a solid workout roughly 2-3 times a week at minimum.

  4. Eat your greens. Incorporating greens into every meal is a good way to make sure you are getting your micronutrients and vitamins. If you are not a fan of eating veggies, try adding them to smoothies or making salads with your favorite toppings to keep it enjoyable.

  5. Don’t limit yourself from things that you love. If you want that cookie, allow yourself to eat that cookie. Everything in a healthy moderation will not stagnate you from your weight loss or fitness goals.

  6. Journal or meditate daily. Healthy lifestyle is not just about what you eat and how you workout, it is also about mental health. You need to maintain a healthy mindset in order to help drive your motivation. In doing this, you are clearing your mind of clutter or things that don’t serve your purpose. This is good for mental clarity and a positive mindset.

  7. Listen to your body. Overall, you ultimately know what your body needs and being present with how you feel after the things you do or eat is crucial to finding how to nourish your body correctly. Figuring out ways or habits that work for specifically you is beneficial because you are your own person.
